England U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Squad Preview & Match Schedule
England & Wales Cricket Board has gone for a different path than what Team India & Team New Zealand followed while announcing their ICC t20 women’s world cup team squads because they omitted their key players like Alice Capsey and Freya Kemp to keep them fresh for the Women’s T20 World Cup which is scheduled to take place in February this year. Grace Scrivens has been confirmed as the captain of England u19 women’s t20 WC squad which is a great opportunity for the all-rounder who is a handy off-spinner along with her left-handed batting skills. ECB has officially confirmed the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup for team England a few weeks ago plus ICC has revealed the ENG U19 women’s t20 world cup 2023 schedule which we have discussed in detail below.

England U19 Women’s Squad Preview
England U19 T20 World Cup squad: Ellie Anderson, Hannah Baker, Josie Groves, Liberty Heap, Niamh Holland, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Emma Marlow, Charis Pavely, Davina Perrin, Lizzie Scott, Grace Scrivens Sophia Smale, Seren Smale, Alexa Stonehouse, Maddie Ward.
Non-traveling reserves: Emily Churms, Charlotte Lambert, Bethan Miles, Jemima Spence, Mary Taylor.
All the players selected in England’s u19 women’s t20 WC squad do have not a lot of experience at the big ICC level but it is a great opportunity for these young female cricketers to make their presence felt on the big stage.
Four players do have a bit more exposure than others because they participated in the Hundred tournaments which were successfully held last year. Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Sophia Smale were part of the Champion team Oval Invincibles so they know what it means to have the glory within your hands. Hannah Baker (Welsh Fire) and Grace Scrivens (London Spirit) have also played in the Hundred tournament.
The key to doing well in South Africa will be a mixture of good pace and spin bowling attacks. The team will be dependent on Alexa Stonehouse, Lizzie Scott, Niamh Fiona Holland & Ryana Lucelle MacDonald-Gay to do their magic as right-arm medium-pace options to get them wickets in the powerplay.
Spin options are more threatening for the opposition than pace because in England U19 T20 Women’s team they got Davina Sarah T Perrin (Legbreak), Hannah L Baker (Legbreak), Josephine Paige Groves (Legbreak Googly), Charis Pavely (Slow Left arm Orthodox), Grace Scrivens Sophia Smale (Right arm Offbreak) & Emma Kate Marlow (Right arm Offbreak) as attacking spin options to restrict oppositions in the middle orders as well as in the powerplay. Leg spinners are always the attacking spin options and England is lucky to have three of them in their squad.
Grace Scrivens as captain will have a major role to play both with the bat and ball if they want to win this tournament and she surely is very capable to deliver on the big stage. She has recently scored 61 against Sparks & 54 against Lightning in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy which shows at the top she is a good enough batter who can play long plus her off-spin bowling capabilities are fantastic too.
Team England Matches Schedule
England U19 T20 Women’s team is in the Group B of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup where they are scheduled to play three group matches. ICC has announced top three teams will go through to the next round so team England will ideally like to win 2 games out of three to qualify on their own without depending on others.
