Melbourne Stars 2022-23 Squad Preview & Match Schedule
Stars have so far never won any title of Big Bash League in all previous 11 seasons which is disappointing to see especially when they always had some Champions players in the lineup but couldn’t able to cross the line. The last 2 seasons for Melbourne Stars 2022-23 had been a nightmare in which they finished 7th and 6th position respectively. Covid-19 also hit the star’s lineup pretty hard last year and at one point they had to play ring-ins against Perth Scorchers because all their squad including coaches had contracted the infection.
Melbourne Stars 2022-23 Team Preview
David Hussey has been retained as the head coach for Melbourne Stars BBL 12 along with his other coaches and supporting staff. Hussey would certainly like to forget all the nightmare issues in the last season and take a winning start in the BBL 2022-23.
Adam Zampa for the first time has been announced as Melbourne Stars 2022-23 captain by replacing their long-standing captain Glenn Maxwell who broke his leg in November and is set to miss the whole season for the stars. Among all Melbourne Stars players, Zampa is a character who likes challenges and is always ready to take in new roles and give his input to the leadership group regarding how to go about different scenarios during the game.

Complete Squad
Trent Boult (New Zealand), Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Joe Clarke (England), Brody Couch, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Sam Elliott, Liam Hatcher, Clint Hinchliffe, Campbell Kellaway, Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell, Cam McClure, Tom O’Connell, Tom Rogers, Marcus Stoinis, Beau Webster, Luke Wood (England), Adam Zampa
The Melbourne Stars 2022-23 team squad which was picked during the draft event has not had any replacements or forced changes which is great news for them because they now have the squad ready that they really wanted for BBL 12. The inclusion of Trent Boult in their lineup will surely strengthen their bowling department but they will lose the services of Boult midway through the tournament due to his involvement with MI Emirates in the ILT20 which will be played in the UAE.
Unfortunately for the Melbourne Stars squad 2022-23, they do not have the services available from their best pacer Haris Rauf due to injury and his international commitments for the team. The players who have been left out of Melbourne Stars big bash season 11 are Andre Russell, Billy Stanlake, Syed Faridoun, Qais Ahmad, Peter Nevill, Sam Rainbird, and Haris Rauf.
The new players who joined Melbourne Stars 2022-23 team squad are Trent Boult, Campbell Kellaway, Cam McClure, Luke Wood, and Tom Rogers.
Glenn Maxwell Melbourne Stars
Maxwell a few weeks ago got involved in a freak accident at his friend’s birthday bash where he literally broke his leg and got out from cricket for a few months. He described the incident on Cricket Australia’s Unplayable Podcast where he said they were laughing about something and pretended to chase him somewhere and they both slipped at the same time but unfortunately maxwell’s foot got stuck a little bit and his friend fell at a very bad angle and straight onto Maxwell’s leg which shattered his fibula and broken his bone in half. He is currently undergoing his complete rehab and he might even miss the upcoming Australia test tour of India.

Key Players This Season
Captain Adam Zampa will be crucial for the Stars to do well this season because not only he will be their key spin option but also as captain he needs to perform to inspire the group. Marcus Stoinis will be another very important player for the Stars who is desperate to score big runs in the BBL after his below-par performances in the last 2 seasons. Stoinis will also have to bowl consistently this season because they do not have the services available of their superstar Maxwell who bowls very handy off-spin. Campbell Kellaway can be an exciting young prospect as a left-handed batter who has recently scored a century against the South Africa test attack.
