Pakistan Women Team Announced For ICC Women’s T20 World Cup
PCB has today announced the official squad for the Pakistan Women team for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be hosted in South Africa. The Women team of Pakistan has never ever made it past the group stage in all previous T20 World Cup events which their captain Bismah Maroof would certainly like to change in the upcoming event. PCB has confirmed that the same set of players will participate in the Women T20 World Cup in South Africa in February as well as in the T20I series in Australia.
Major Changes from the Last Series
There have been quite a few changes in the Pakistan women t20 squad 2023 from the last series they played against Ireland at home. Bismah Marooof however, has been confirmed as Pakistan women team captain for both the World Cup as well as the ODI and T20I series against Australia in Australia.
Diana Baig is making a comeback after fully recovering from a shoulder injury for both ODI and T20I series in Australia in January and the women T20 World Cup in South Africa in February. Interesting to see Sadia Iqbal also making a comeback after a while along with Tuba Hassan another leg-spinning option who has been named to the World Cup squad.
Pakistan Women team has again strengthened their spin bowling department which made their way into the semi-finals of the recently concluded Asia Cup which was held in Bangladesh in October 2022. Although, ICC Women T20 World Cup is scheduled to be hosted in South Africa where pace and bounce might be more effective but one can argue as the leg-spinning options are always an attacking option to have in any format of the game irrespective of the pitches.
Selectors didn’t select Fast bowler Kainat Imtiaz, Anam Amin & Offspinner Umm-e-Hani has also not been selected for the mega event.
Complete Squads For Pakistan Women Team

Pakistan Women Team Group in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup
There are 2 groups for the mega event and each group has five participating teams. Pakistan is in Group 2 where they are scheduled to play India, England, Ireland, and West Indies. Their first game is against their arch-rivals Indian Women’s Team on February 12 in Cape Town. It is quite shocking to know a country where cricket is being watched by millions but yet the Women’s team has never been able to go past the group stage in the T20 World Cup events. Last time in the 2020 mega event, they won only one against West Indies and forced their way out in the group stage.

Favorites for ICC Women T20 World Cup
The chances for Pakistan Women’s team to WIN the major title are not more than 10% as the teams from Australia, England, India & South Africa have more bowling and batting power along with familiarity with the pitches. South African Women team can surely be termed as favorites because of the home crowd advantage along with the resources available to make the best use of the pitch conditions.
Indian Women Cricket Team can be a great surprise package after the aggressive approach they showed against Australia back home. They are definitely in line to reach the big semi-finals for this mega event.
