Sri Lanka Winning Record in ODI World Cups

Sri Lanka has consistently performed admirably in ODI World Cups, but they have yet to secure another championship title since their triumph in 1996. Over the years, Sri Lanka has established themselves as a formidable force in the cricketing world, consistently reaching the knockout stages and even making it to the finals on multiple occasions. However, they have fallen short in their quest for another World Cup victory.

Looking at Sri Lanka’s past performances in ODI World Cups, they have had a mixed bag of results. After their victorious campaign in 1996, where they were led by the legendary Aravinda de Silva, Sri Lanka faced some early exits in subsequent tournaments. They failed to progress past the group stage in 1999, 2003, and 2019, which was a disappointment for the team and their fans.

However, Sri Lanka also had some notable achievements in ODI World Cups. They reached the semi-finals in 2003, where they were defeated by Australia. In 2007 and 2011, Sri Lanka made it to the finals but fell short against Australia and India, respectively. These performances showcased the team’s ability to compete at the highest level and be a contender for the title.
