Cricket with every passing month is becoming one of the biggest sports in the world as more and more countries are making their efforts to build the infrastructure and facilities for the game. International Cricket Council is also very focused to add more cricket-playing nations and the USA Cricket Board is also working very closely with the ICC to help build the facilities in the country. The Cricket Board of USA has announced a new T20 franchise league named “Major League Cricket also known as MLC” which is due to be played in July this year with six franchises participating in the inaugural edition.

MLC 2023 All Teams Squad Summary
Major League Cricket witnessed its inaugural MLC draft event on the 19th of March when all six franchises picked the local and International stars in the Major league cricket teams squad from more than 100 registered players. All the overseas players were picked directly instead of being chosen in the draft while the local players were picked at the event with the draft being held in a “snake” format in which the pick order is reversed in every round.
MLC management had set a total budget of 1.1 Million USD to pick Major league cricket teams squad from which 800,000 USD was kept for overseas players’ signings while the remaining 300,000 USD was used to pick local exciting cricket talent from the United States.

All the franchises are allowed to pick a maximum of nine overseas players in their Major League cricket complete players list so we expect to see more International stars being roped in the coming months. Each franchise has to make a direct deal with overseas players and look after the salary & availability of International stars themselves.

Major League Cricket Team Owners
Four of the six franchises in the Major League Cricket (MLC) are owned by the Indian Premier League franchise owners as they have all become giant sports entities but one minor difference is some of the IPL franchises have purchased the rights with the partnership of local USA investors as well to make sure their investment will be profitable in the longer run.
