Women’s Premier League (WPL) inaugural edition is all set to be played from March 4 to March 26 next month with five franchises participating in the tournament. All the WPL 2023 team squads were finalized in the WPL 2023 auction event which was held in Mumbai on the 13th of February, 2023. It was a historic occasion for Women’s cricket all around the globe to witness young and experienced women cricketers in the squad of all teams in WPL 2023 being picked for huge sums of money which will definitely be going to change Women’s cricket forever.

After the auction event it has been confirmed that many of the WPL Players List 2023 include players who are participating in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 so they all will be traveling directly to India after the conclusion of the World Cup. Hence why BCCI preferred to host the entire tournament in two different venues due to logistical challenges.

Capri Global Holdings Pvt Ltd was successful to purchased the rights for a WPL franchise based in Lucknow at a price of 757 Crore. They are not new to the cricket business as recently they also purchased franchise rights For Sharjah Warriors in International League T20 (ILT20) which successfully held its inaugural edition earlier this year.
